Why should we pray for Israel? David encourages us in, Psalm 122:6, to pray for Israel. The nation of Israel is not perfect and has made many mistakes, but the Jews are still God’s chosen people: “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth,” (Deuteronomy 7:6). Therefore, let us continually cry out night and day in our prayers for Israel.
A Prayer for Israel
Father, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and that her borders remain protected and secure. Show Your loving kindness to Israel and keep her as the apple of Your eye. Hide this nation under the shadow of Your wings. Father, You said that You will curse those who curse Israel. Therefore, bring shame and disgrace on those trying to destroy Your chosen people. Turn them back and humiliate those who want to harm this nation.
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I pray that You reveal Your perfect will to all the leaders of Israel. Moreover, give them wisdom and strength to make decisions that will bring peace, instead of conflict. May they work towards reconciliation and a healing of relationships between Israelis and Palestinians.
Lord, You are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer. Therefore, I ask that You bring physical and emotional healing to the victims of violence and terrorism in Israel.
Father, I pray that our nation’s alliance with Israel will remain strong, as well as, their diplomatic, economic, and military support. May our country follow Your guidance in decisions concerning Israel and not make any decision that will harm Your chosen people in any way.
Lord, use Your Church to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nation of Israel. Unveil their eyes and fully open their hearts to receive Jesus’ saving grace and atoning blood.
Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer that is in accordance with Your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
