Many Christians inadvertently open supernatural portals of evil and destruction and give demons access to their home. Strange or unusual occurrences can be indicators that you have demon spirits in your home. See Signs of a Demon Filled House. Because of this, your home life can become extremely uncomfortable, which is exactly what Satan wants! He wants to take control of you and your house. However, there are things you can do if a demon has entered your home through an open door. You must cleanse your home and close the door to Satan.
How a house becomes influenced by demonic spirits
Sinful activities that you or someone in your household have been involved in can open the door for demonic influence. Activities such as séances, witchcraft, adultery or incest can result in evil spirits lingering behind in your house. The Bible tells us that even land can be defiled because of evil deeds practiced by those who live on that land: “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman,” (Ezekiel 36:17).
Secondly, owning items connected to the occult can also give evil spirits a legal right to invade your home. In addition, these objects can act as channels for demonic spirits to move through for constant attacks. See items that can open the door to demon spirits. The Bible lets us know clearly that physical items can indeed carry spiritual value: “Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing,” (Deuteronomy 7:26).
How to cleanse your home and close the door to Satan
A spiritual house cleansing, when done correctly, breaks curses and removes demonic beings. In addition, it dedicates one’s house or land to the Lord and invites His blessings and presence to dwell there.
To begin, pray and ask God to reveal to you the objects in your home that are unclean. The Holy Spirit will prompt you concerning those things that are opening your home to demonic influences. You may experience an uneasy feeling about the item or a sense of peace. However, if you have items that you are uncertain about or items that have an unknown history, pray about those things. Ask God to show you what to do about the matter or dedicate them to the Lord. Most importantly, these items should not be thrown away but destroyed so that they cannot be used by anyone else.
Anoint your home with oil
Spiritual house cleaning should be done by anointing with olive oil, in Jesus’ name. Jesus taught us that we have the power to bind demonic spirits. Binding and commanding all powers of darkness to leave is shown in (Matthew 18:18).
Go through each room of your house and pray over it. Also, anoint the doorways and windows and verbally command the unclean spirits to leave your property. Any specific areas of demonic activity or influence of which you are aware of should also be denounced by name. Finally, dedicate your house to the Lord. Some Scriptures to read out loud include: (Numbers 6:24-26; 2 Samuel 7:29; Psalm 4:8; Proverbs 3:33; Isaiah 32:18; Jeremiah 29:11).
House/Land Sanctification Prayer
Father, I come before You, in the name of Jesus and in the power of His Blood. As the owner of this house, I stand in the gap asking You to forgive me for any transgressions and iniquities that I have committed in this house. Now, I ask for the blood of Jesus to cleanse me and every room in my house.
Father, I dedicate this home to You, and I ask that Your blessings be upon it. I also ask that Your Warrior Angels encamp around this property. Guard and protect it from every form of evil that tries to come upon it, in Jesus’ Name.
I appropriate the blood of Jesus over this house. Furthermore, I bind every evil spirit in this house and command it to leave and never return again.
Father, Come and be the Lord of this house, and let Your peace and joy inhabit this place. Jesus, come and take Your rightful seat in this house, as Lord of my life and Lord of this house. Also, may Your Holy Spirit flow through and fill this house with Your presence.
